“Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell together in unity.” (Psalm 133:1)

Yours in Christ,

Bishop Dr. Godson Abel Mollel

Head of KKKT – Northern Central Diocese

ABOUT US

The Northern Central Diocese of the ELCT (Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania) began in 1973, at that time known as the Arusha Regional Synod, under the leadership of Rev. Mesiaki Kilevo, who was the first leader of the Synod. At its establishment, the Synod had about 30,000 members, 20 parishes, and 110 sub-parishes.

The second leader of the Synod was the late Bishop Dr. Thomas Olmorijoi Laiser, who served from 1980 to 1986. In that same year (1986), the Synod was transformed into the Arusha Regional Diocese, with the late Bishop Dr. Thomas Olmorijoi Laiser becoming its first bishop.

In 2010, the Arusha Regional Diocese changed its name to the Northern Central Diocese, following the decision of the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania during its third phase of administration, to divide the former Arusha Region into two: Arusha and Manyara Regions.
